The Toffees overcame a stiff challenge for Blackpool to win 5-3 in a game in which Louis Saha scored four goals and Jermaine Beckford grabbed the other. Alex Baptiste , Jason Puncheon and Charlie Adam scored for the Seasiders. Everton boss David Moyes hailed Saha’s efforts and voiced hope that his side could mount a challenge for a top 10 finish this season.
Meanwhile Bolton suffered heartbreak in their game against Tottenham as they succumbed to a 2-1 loss. Rafael van der Vaart had put Spurs in the lead only for Daniel Sturridge to equalize on 55 minutes. It was looking like a draw for both teams, but a late goal from Niko Kranjcar on 90 minutes settled the game in Tottenham’s favor. Trotters boss Owen Coyle was unhappy with the late goal conceded by his side, but was pleased with Sturridge’s impact on the club early on. The on-loan striker has scored in each of his two games for Bolton and Coyle will hope for more of the same in this game as well.
