The Reds looked short of form as they managed just a point against Birmingham City who could have collected all three points late in the game. Manager Rafa Benitez’s substitutions came in for criticism with the Liverpool manager withdrawing Fernando Torres when Liverpool desperately needed a goal.
Benitez admitted that his side have an uphill task if they are to finish fourth and though Liverpool are four points behind Manchester City and have played a game more than their immediate rivals, Benitez refused to give up on the fourth place and expressed confidence that his side will win all of their remaining matches to qualify for the Champions League next season.
